The American Power Boat Association National Tour kicked off in Parker, Ariz., with a bang, as racers from all over the world converged at the BlueWater Resort and Casino for the first two rounds of the five-event, nine-round series. The Colorado River served as the perfect backdrop for the impressive talent and tight competition that took place in 11 Pro-Am and Expert classes. Even masters, novice and amateur racers had their time on the course.
The competition was fierce, with some of the sport's superstars, such as Chris MacClugage, competing in the Sport Modified class for the first time in 15 years. MacClugage finished second behind Chris Heindrich in Round 1, but upped his game in Round 2, knocking Heindrich into second place. Other notable racers included Erminio Iantasca, who won Round 1 of the Pro-Am Runabout 1200 Open, and Kristan Williams, who earned two first-place finishes in the Women's Runabout 1200 Limited.
Junior racers also had their chance to shine, with 15-year-old Keifer King adding more wins to his already-impressive résumé. He took first place in both rounds of the Junior 13-15 Stock, and both rounds of the Junior 13-15 Limited. Other young talents included 12-year-old Brandon McMillan, who brought home first place in Round 1 of Junior 10-12 Stock.
