Yamaha Motor Company announces the commencement of its 50 year anniversary celebration with the launch of a commemorative Web site produced by Yamaha Motor Company Japan. This Web site features data and numerous historical photos that detail the passion of Yamaha since its inception. The site will be updated continuously throughout the year as events worldwide mark this celebration.
Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A. will pay tribute to this anniversary with events throughout the year ahead and plans to celebrate with 100,000 motorsports fans at the U.S. MotoGP to be held July 8-10 at Laguna Seca raceway in Monterey, California. “The MotoGP involvement is just one way Yamaha can show its appreciation to our customers,” says Bob Starr, Corporate Communications Manager of the Motorsports Group. “and I think our customers will also be quite pleased at some of the other surprises and activities we have planned for the year ahead.” The link for the Web site is http://www.yamaha-motor.co.jp/global/50th/index.htm

The 2005 World Finals for Junior Ski competition will now accept riders as young as 10 years old, according to the American Power Boat Association (APBA) and the International Jet Sports Boating Association (IJSBA). In 2004, racers were permitted to participate in all APBA events, including the APBA Watercross Nationals, from the age of 12. However, the IJSBA set the age limit for the World Finals at 14. The new rule applies to Freestyle and three Junior classes in the ski division only. The Junior Ski 10-12 Stock, Junior Ski 13-15 Stock and Junior Ski 13-15 Limited classes are eligible to compete at both the APBA Watercross Nationals and the World Finals. Junior racers are not allowed to participate in the Runabout class, and the age limit for that class remains at 16 years old. More details on qualifications and registration will be available shortly, and Junior Ski racers are advised to contact their local race promoter for confirmation.
