The 2005 Hydro-Turf Freeride Championships — an International Freeride Watercraft Association World Tour stop coming to Oceanside, California on October 1-2 — will feature the world's best watercraft freeride athletes competing for a cash purse and IFWA World Tour Points.
The event takes place over two days to ensure the best possible surf conditions. Athletes will compete in Sit Down and Stand Up classes and are judged equally between wave jumping and wave surfing skills by a panel of five judges. The event is open to both professional and amateur competitors. All competitors will compete in the 1st round. Riders with current World Tour Points will automatically advance. The remaining spots will be filled with the top qualifiers from Round One. Competitors will battle for a cash purse and points towards the title of IFWA World Champion. The normal requirement to declare professional status will be waived to all competitors except those who receive 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in the final results. You may join the IFWA online at ifwa.com.br or at the event. The cost of the yearly IFWA membership is $50 US. Registration is limited in the 1st qualification round. All riders must pre-register by September 10, 2005. After September 10th, interested riders will be put on the waiting list.
