In a bold move that is certain to garner the company a LOT of enthusiast — and media — attention in coming months, Sea-Doo recently unveiled the 3D, a multi-dimensional PWC that offers three different riding experiences.
Based around the XP hull design, the 3D can be configured into three different "modes," including VERT (essentially a stand-up), MOTO (motocross style), and KART, a completely new to the PWC market experience that places the driver in a low, go-kart-like position. Power is provided by a 782cc, 110-horse engine with Rotax Fuel Injection. The stand-up version offers the most stable stand-up ride ever. You can shut the engine off and still stand in the tray with confidence. And while its quite stable, it also offers a very agile ride, able to slice up buoy course with authority. Redy for a new experience? Push a couple buttons and you can fold a seat out of the handlepole, and then seat post out of the seat itself. The post fixes to the topdeck and offers a motocross-style seat to rest on. For the most unique ride in the watercraft industry, though, you can fold the seat back up, secure the handlepole to the top deck and add a seat to the tray. Kart mode positions the driver mere inches above the water and provides that go-cart-on-the-water feel. The catch? That seat is currently sold as an accessory ($599), making the 3D really more of a 2D in standard trim.
