Get ready for an exciting season of jet Ski sports racing, as the International Jet Sports Boating Association (IJSBA) announces its key dates for two national tours and new classes for younger racers.
The pro Motosurf Nationals will take place in Oceanside, Calif., with eight rounds over four weekends, starting from April 26th and running consecutively until May 18th. The IJSBA also revealed that the races on the weekend of May 3-4 will coincide with Oceanside Harbor Days festival. The Pro Freestyle title will only be determined from Rounds 1-6, as there is a schedule conflict with an existing European event on the final weekend of May 17-18. The National Tour event schedule is also set, starting on May 31st in Rochester, N.Y., with stops in Florida, Houston, Lake Havasu City, San Francisco, and Bay City, Michigan. The tour will conclude at an as-yet-undetermined location in the Midwest in August. To encourage participation and growth for future competitors, the IJSBA has lowered the minimum age in two new Ski classes, Amateur 14-15 Ski Stock and Amateur 14-15 Ski Limited. The organization hopes that the new age rules will attract young competitors who might otherwise pursue other sports. There will also be a dedicated 14-15 Freestyle Class featured during the World Finals. Race officials will hold designated orientation programs for the youngest riders at individual race weekends.
