The Colorado River served as the perfect backdrop for the impressive talent and tight competition that took place in 11 Pro-Am and Expert classes. Even masters, novice and amateur racers had their time on the course.
The competition was fierce, with some of the sport's superstars, such as Chris MacClugage, competing in the Sport Modified class for the first time in 15 years. MacClugage finished second behind Chris Heindrich in Round 1, but upped his game in Round 2, knocking Heindrich into second place. Other notable racers included Erminio Iantasca, who won Round 1 of the Pro-Am Runabout 1200 Open, and Kristan Williams, who earned two first-place finishes in the Women's Runabout 1200 Limited. Junior racers also had their chance to shine, with 15-year-old Keifer King adding more wins to his already-impressive résumé. He took first place in both rounds of the Junior 13-15 Stock, and both rounds of the Junior 13-15 Limited. Other young talents included 12-year-old Brandon McMillan, who brought home first place in Round 1 of Junior 10-12 Stock. Overall, the first two rounds of the American Power Boat Association National Tour in Parker, Ariz., proved to be an exciting start to the series, with plenty of talent and competition on display. The IJSBA World Finals are back and the racers have gathered at Lake Havasu City, Arizona to compete for a world championship, regardless of their level of experience. This year marks the 26th anniversary of the event and the organizers have planned some exciting activities. From October 6-14, the Crazy Horse Campgrounds will host the quakysense World Finals, featuring competitive racing and freestyle riding. In addition, the vendor participation promises to be exceptional, showcasing a comprehensive range of MUVs, off-road vehicles, extreme automobiles, lifestyle apparel, and the latest personal watercraft. During the final weekend, visitors can witness motorcycle legend Travis Pastrana's Trophy Truck and his custom-painted Nitro Circus stand-up, celebrating the release of his latest Nitro Circus extreme video, ThrillBillies. The IJSBA is also organizing the first annual PWC Owners' Convention at the event. Participating manufacturers will distribute wristbands to their booth attendees, providing access to a private shaded area for viewing the World Finals competitions. The IJSBA will also periodically distribute hospitality and prizes. The second annual Hall of Fame ceremony will take place on October 13 at the London Bridge Convention Center from 8 to 9 p.m., where inductees will be presented with an award recognizing their achievements. Calling all racers! Get ready to rev your engines for the 9th Annual Sea Doo Surf and Turf Championships, starting with the first two stops at the Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach, Alabama on March 25th and 26th. This Spring Break event will be a double points series, featuring a surf race and the opportunity to bring your totes and ATVs. The schedule includes two motos on Saturday and an extra-long moto on Sunday. The Perdido Beach Resort is a top-notch resort with all the amenities, and everyone is encouraged to stay there by calling (251) 981-9811 and mentioning the "Surf and Turf" racing group for a racer discount of $120-$135 oceanfront. For the first time in history, the tour will go to Myrtle Beach, SC, for rounds 5 & 6 on June 1st – 3rd, running with the Sun Fun Festival that attracts over 500,000 people! The event will include the Miss Hawaiian Tropic Bikini Contest, an air show, Freestyle Motocross, and plenty of fun for the whole family! This event will also be the 1st round of the East Coast Cup Series and be televised. The tour will then head to Mooresville, North Carolina for the APBA Nationals on June 16th-18th, where Stutts Marina on Lake Norman will be the event site for this extravaganza. Racers are encouraged to bring water stands, and there will be a riverboat on hand for spectators. The event will feature the largest cash payout in the USA, along with a welcome party at CS Performance on Friday, a Racer Party on Saturday Night, and a bikini contest on Sunday. However, there will be no RVs on site this year due to limited space. Finally, the Sea Doo Surf and Turf Championships will conclude on August 12th and 13th at the luxurious Edgewater Beach Resort, where the white sandy beaches and emerald green water will create a picturesque setting. This event will be held with "X-treme Fest" produced by the Surf and Turf Crew, featuring PWC Racing, a band, Street bike Freestyle, Freestyle Motocross, and racer parties, as well as a bikini contest. MacClugage won the first two nine-lap motos and finished second in moto three on the 1.6-mile course to win the Pro Runabout 1200 Superstock class. MacClugage has 120 individual race victories, and he is the only rider who has won IJSBA pro World Championships in four different classes. Kawasaki won 11 IJSBA World Championships, Sea-Doo had seven, and Polaris and Yamaha took three. The IJSBA Nation's Cup was awarded to Team USA for the fifth year, and Thailand came in second with four titles. More than 1,200 entries from nearly 40 states and 30 nations competed at the 23rd annual Lake Havasu World Finals at the Crazy Horse RV Resort and Campground. Spectators on the beach will witness this elite group of jet ski pilots performing amazing aerial tricks like back flips and supermans while also showcasing their surfing skills and expertise in the famous waves of Oceanside. A panel of professional judges will score riders half on surfing maneuvers and half on tricks. The Hydro-Turf Freeride Championships are the 4th stop of the 2005 IFWA Freeride World Tour. Points accumulated on each stop will determine the World Champion at the fifth and final event in the series in Brazil in November. World-class events were held in Portugal, Spain and France in the month of April. The International Freeride Watercraft Association (IFWA) sanctions the event. The IFWA is the sanctioning body of Freeride Watercraft events worldwide. The IFWA consists of representatives in 12 countries and a governing sanctioning body. The goal of the IFWA is to bring together athletes from all over and expose the sport of Watercraft Freeriding to the public and world at large.
